The Tooth Bleaching Recipe
The recipe for tooth bleaching:
Mix quality, comfort and safety in the right proportions, season it with a good price and some customer service. Let it cook for a white and serve your whiter smile to your guests.
Ingredients:
- For best result use one pair of custom fitted whitening trays,
- 22% carbamide peroxide gel, with a little extra spice is possible,
- A good price,
- A touch of customer service,
- Check your cookware (your teeth and gums) for any ware and tear.
Notes: For a quick meal using a thermoforming tray is permitted but it is not recommended if you are expecting distinguished quests.
I have bad news for those of us who do not like the bleaching soup. Your only other option is to visit the tooth fairy and ask for porcelain veneers. I hope you saved those quarters.
For experienced cooks (and those who want to try varieties of the tooth bleaching soup):
The best tooth bleaching products mix Quality, Comfort, Safety, Price and Customer Service. There are no exceptions.
Here is how NOT to mix them:
“Mrs. Badcook heard about the tooth bleaching recipe and thought she would try it the next day. She liked to spice things up a little bit so she thought - “The Whiter the better.” The recipe said 22% carbamide peroxide. She found a pack of 35% gel. “Better” - she thought. Not having much time she got a pair of moldable trays. “Not the best fit, but hey I just use more gel” – she said to herself.”
Bad, bad, bad combination. Where is Safety in the mix?. Stronger gels cause more damage to soft tissue, looser trays will leak more gel to the soft tissue. I would not want to be Mrs. Badcook’s guest for dinner.
Here is how to mix them RIGHT:
Tooth whitening Quality:
The two most important components of home tooth whitening are the
- tooth whitening tray and the
- tooth whitening gel.
They together define the whitening power. Better fitting whitening trays allows the gel to get in contact with even the smallest cracks. That is why custom fitted trays provide better quality (whiter teeth).
The next best choice is thermoforming trays. These are also quite good.
Strips are only recommended for a quick snack.
Did you know? Professionals called dentists also use the same kinds of custom fitted trays. Except they sell them for a higher price.
Experts: please read the tooth whitening tray section.
Stronger gels have more whitening power. I think it doesn’t surprise you.
Did you know? The true cleaning agent is hydrogen peroxide even in carbamide peroxide gels.
Did you know? A 6% hydrogen peroxide gel has the same power as a 22% carbamide peroxide gel.
Did you know? For less potent gels - for example 16% carbamide peroxide gels – “cooking” time can be increased to get the same results.
Experts: Please read the tooth whitening gel section for more information.
Whitening Comfort:
Custom fitted trays are the most comfortable to wear. Comfort is very important to get good quality. Uncomfortable trays are uncomfortable to wear. That is why they called uncomfortable. If you don’t wear them your teeth will not become whiter. It is as simple as that.
Whitening gels also add to comfort. Sensitiveness can be reduced with the correct whitening gel.
Whitening Safety:
To calm your worries read about tooth whitening safety. If your teeth and gums are healthy and you follow the tooth bleaching recipe above you will be fine. However there maybe situations when you should talk to your dentist.
