Faster Tooth Whitening

So, your tooth whitening goal is the whites of your eyes. How long does it take to get there? What can you do when the results are not coming?

You probably know the answer to this one. Stronger bleaching gels take less time.

Generally, you should begin to see a difference in about two to three days.

Whitening gels with lower concentration can still achieve the same results in a few extra days. Time can replace strength. A 16% or 10% gel will also get you there except it will take somewhat longer. Just add time.

Are you not seeing immediate results?

Do not panic. Tooth whitening takes time. Hopefully you recorded the beginning shade of your teeth for reference.

To get to the whites of your eyes:

If you are young and only need a few shades whiter teeth:
You are the lucky one. Even quality whitening strips will get you those white teeth in about a week or two.

If you have yellow teeth and need to whiten more than a few shades:
Whitening strips don’t have enough whitening power for you. You have a good chance with trays based systems. Don’t expect to get to the whites of your eyes too fast. You may need repeated treatments.

If you have gray or blue colored teeth or you need a lot of whitening:
Strips may not get you any whiter. Even with tray based systems you should be planning on repeated treatments over several weeks or even months.

What can you do if you see no improvement?

The first few shades should take less than a week maybe two. If after some time you still see no results you can try longer applications. Whitening takes time. Perhaps your teeth are harder to penetrate or you have tough stains.

If longer application doesn’t help you can increase the power of your whitening gel. Low concentration gels don’t work for everyone. Try going to the next level.

If you use tray based tooth whitening products and you are happy with your trays you only need to buy stronger gel. Gel is inexpensive there are many providers.
